Health scare
As some of you already know, a few weeks ago I got really sick. It started as dizziness and escalated over a few days to vertigo coupled with vomiting. We went to the ER and they basically told us that it was just part of being pregnant. The next day I met with my midwife who informed me that my doctor in Alabama did my 3 hour glucose challenge test too early and that I'd have to repeat it here in Texas. As much as I hated to do it, I repeated the test. It was a good thing I did because I failed it. The midwife called with the news that I am a gestational diabetic. It was scary at first, but I've got the hang of it. Turns out that my sickness was caused by extremely high blood glucose levels. It took weeks for my vision to return to normal, but all is well now. I have to watch what I eat and prick my finger 4 times a day, but it is worth all of that to have a healthy baby and to feel good! I met with the doctor last week and she said all my numbers looked great and to keep up the good work. When Ryan and I attended the diabetes class where I got my glucometer, the nurse told us that they would take Caroline at 39 weeks. I got all excited (here at Fort Hood they'll let you go 42 weeks before inducing). The doctor told me last week that since my numbers were all so good that I'd be treated as a regular patient. . .which means they'll let me go to 42 weeks. Boo. Let's hope our baby girl wants to come into the world earlier than that! Only 8 weeks til my due date! =)

whew!
Well, we're here in Texas. . .the drive went off without a hitch, but the move has been a bear. We had a good bit of damage in the move and lots of little problems with the house. Our brand new refrigerator didn't work. . .had it repaired and it worked for a whole day. . .had it repaired AGAIN. . .now it seems to be good. My laptop got a virus, there was confusion with the power company switch and the builder's power company turned our power off a day ahead of schedule, so we had to pay extra to have our power company turn it on earlier. Needless to say, it has been one thing after another! Texas does things a little bassackwards so we've had to jump through hoops for simple things. I think we've about got all the kinks worked out (finally) and we're loving our new house! Caroline's room turned out beautifully (nice paint job, Daddy and Grampy!) and I can't wait to add the final touches and post pictures! Her arrival is coming very quickly, so it is crunch time! I'm into my third trimester, so it is time to enroll in childbirth classes. I can't wait to put Ryan into a sympathy belly (I'll definitely post pics of that)! =) Caroline is kicking and squirming up a storm and if her current activity is a hint of what's to come once she's here, I'm gonna be one busy girl keeping up with her! We haven't set up Ryan's computer since we had to order a desk (which should arrive this coming week) so I haven't been able to post any pictures. I promise to get them up as soon as we get his office in working order! We miss all of y'all in sweet home Alabama and can't wait for visitors! =)
