Health scare

As some of you already know, a few weeks ago I got really sick. It started as dizziness and escalated over a few days to vertigo coupled with vomiting. We went to the ER and they basically told us that it was just part of being pregnant. The next day I met with my midwife who informed me that my doctor in Alabama did my 3 hour glucose challenge test too early and that I'd have to repeat it here in Texas. As much as I hated to do it, I repeated the test. It was a good thing I did because I failed it. The midwife called with the news that I am a gestational diabetic. It was scary at first, but I've got the hang of it. Turns out that my sickness was caused by extremely high blood glucose levels. It took weeks for my vision to return to normal, but all is well now. I have to watch what I eat and prick my finger 4 times a day, but it is worth all of that to have a healthy baby and to feel good! I met with the doctor last week and she said all my numbers looked great and to keep up the good work. When Ryan and I attended the diabetes class where I got my glucometer, the nurse told us that they would take Caroline at 39 weeks. I got all excited (here at Fort Hood they'll let you go 42 weeks before inducing). The doctor told me last week that since my numbers were all so good that I'd be treated as a regular patient. . .which means they'll let me go to 42 weeks. Boo. Let's hope our baby girl wants to come into the world earlier than that! Only 8 weeks til my due date! =)

I am glad to hear all your numbers are up and yo are feeling better. My sister-in-law had to do that same thing with her first baby. Good news is when she got pregnant with her second, she did not have it. Only a few more weeks!!!!
